GooglePages are FUN! You have one yet?

Here is the "about" page for Google Pages

Google page basically allows you to make a couple of webpages for yourself. You do have some access to the html, so you can dress them up a bit! One requirement is to get the gmail (basically google's email program) in order to do this. I personally didn't think it was all that big of deal! You can still use your own email and passcode to sign into your google account. My sign in name is the one I choose for gmail so don't let it take you back when you see it after you sign in! It wont' show your email name that you opened your google account with anymore.

The more items you use OFF this program the more webspace you can use! For example, I still use photobucket for my images. My account as of now still has tons of space left! The help section seems to be pretty active, and if you do a search for what you are looking for chances are you will find it!

I was reading the help section, and I came upon a poster that had his own googlepage with tips! I went there and did some fast reading. I learned that you can use templates from other places, and NOT use the ones avaiable! That is all fine and great except you have to break the template UP and place in the separate sections of their TEMPLATE! I found that out the hard way! When you start playing around with it you see the button to edit the html, and so of course I did! I erased all the html that was there, and then copied my template html that I worked on instead. What I didn't realize is that I placed my entire template within the header portion of the page, and it looked AWFUL! You have to break up your template into the separate sections.

The preview section isn't all that helpful! I found you must view it live in order to get a good feel for what it will look like live! YES you can play around with it without it being LIVE on the internet, and if you decide to take it down off the internet it gives you that option also!

My page is still a work in progress! Here is is!

Engraver For You

Now you can't add meta tags or keywords into your html from what I have read. You must make sure your page is keyword rich, and do this naturally! Then make sure you get some of those one way links to drive up the page rank of your site!

Helpful tip page from another google page member

What I would LIKE to do is use this page for an entrance into my ecrater store! I placed a note on my google page noting that if they click the 'baseball' button for example it will take them to the baseball trophy section of my store! I will be adding additional sports trophies, and pages with time. Remember to use your anchor text along with other items!

2. Ping your blog after every post at http://pingomatic.com/

3. Here's a real gem: Submit your blog to http://www.pingoat.com/ Pingoat will ping over fifty blog ping services all at once. So you don't have to hunt for ping services and manually ping them. Pingoat pings over fifty blog ping servers (growing) with just one click.

4. Ping your blog after every post at Pingoat at http://www.pingoat.com/

5. Sign up for a free account at BlogExplosion.com and register your blog there: http://www.blogexplosion.com/

6. Submit your blog to all of the directores listed at http://www.rss-feeds-directory.com/blog_lists.html

7. Sign up for a "My Yahoo" at http://my.yahoo.com/ and attach your blog to your own "My Yahoo" account. This will get your blog included in Yahoo very quickly. This is worth the effort to stop what you're doing right and do it, since Yahoo has a PR 9.

8. Use this code: "http://add.my.yahoo.com/content?url= http://www.yourblog.com/urblog.xml" in your blog to allow others to put your feed on their own "My Yahoo" account.

9. Sign up for a "My MSN" at http://www.my.msn.com/, and attach your blog to your own "My MSN" account. This will get your blog included in MSN very quickly. This is also invaluable because MSN has a PR 8.

10. Use this code: "http://my.msn.com/addtomymsn.armx?id= rss&ut=http://www.urblogfeedaddress.com/urblog.xml" in your blog to allow others to put your feed on their own "My MSN" account.

11. Place the link and description of your blog in your signature, so that any posts to Forums, Outgoing Emails, Autoresponder Courses, etc, will promote your blog.

12. Post a link and description of your blog on each of your sites.

13. Place your blog on all the major search engines. AddMe.com will submit your blog free to the top 14 Search engines here:
http://www.addme.com/submission.htm

SubmitExpress.com will submit your blog free to the top 20 Search engines here:
http://www.submitexpress.com/

14. Use Article Directories as a resource for articles to post on your blog. Here are a few:
http://ezinearticles.com/
http://goarticles.com/
http://www.knowledge-finder.com/
http://www.informit.com/articles/

15. Locate blogs with a lot of traffic and place useful comments in their comment box. Be sure the blog and your comments are relavent to both your blog and theirs. Senseless posts won't help you, they'll hurt you.

16. Once you get around 5 to 10 posts on your blog, start a PR campaign and announce it to all relevant channels.

17. Make a blog post as often as possible. More than once a day is not really necessary. Remember, if you can't write that much, go to step # 14.

How to get Technorati to WORK for YOU!

I'm only going to go over a couple of ways to get Technorati to work for you, and later we will go over some additional tips! Technorati is a site that get people to you, and have that traffic work for you in a couple of ways!

First what is Technorati? Its a bit different than search engine like you use everyday. The difference is BLOGS! Yep! Its a blog search engine! Blogs are getting more and more popular, and those nice little tags that you can add will help to increase your flow of traffic! That is what everyone is after RIGHT! I will show you how to add the tags later! They are similar to the categories section here in wordpress.

First off go to technorati, and look for the search bar. Next to it is pull down menu, and today we want to work with TAGS!

Type in the subject matter or tag you might think could be an awesome choice for your blog. As you can see I typed in keywords. Once I hit enter I saw interesting results to narrow down things a bit!

See that cool line that says: RELATED TAGS? I pointed to them with an arrow. GREAT tool to use for your additional tags, keywords, and maybe even your KILLER title line! Why is that? People are searching for those terms that why! Unless you pick some tags that people are interested in don't count on many visits from Technorati!

Technorati also gives you a list of the most popular tags! Go to the home page, and swing over to the right.

Go can go a bit further when you hit MORE at the bottom! This will give you some ideas of what to use.

Once you find those tags that fit your article, subject matter you need to insert those into your posts! On wordpress you must go to the top of your screen and hit the CODE tab! In blogger you need to use the "Edit html" section.

Now check this cool tool out! Technorati Tag Generator

According to Technorati you must place HTML code the way they want it in order for your tags to come up on their site to benefit you the most. Now that can be a bit cumbersome if you have bunch of them! With this tool you type out all your tags, and separate them with commas. If you look to the right of the screen it does the code for YOU! Just copy that code, and paste towards the bottom of your post.

I'm sure there are different styles to do this, but this is what I'm currently doing! Oh YES - you must be register and follow their directions in order to get indexed in their system. Here is the page for Technorati Blog Directory As we spoke of before remember to PING them which that shortcut is in my sidebar with you add something, or change something!

If you use flickr or youtube those also can be tags for technorati indexing! If you do that type of thing - make sure you take advantage of it! In business we always say you never know where your next lead with come from! I have to admit some of my leads came from the strangest places!

Blogging helps you build a community of readers, and that will increase your traffic AND hopefully your bottom line! Being part of a community means you must be PART of it, and learning to use tags is only one part! You must get involved with reading others materials, and getting involved with their communities as well! I have to say that can be the fun part in all of this! You never know where that will lead!

9 Ways to WRITE those "KILLER" Headlines!

Blogging seems to be growing more competitive everyday, and one way you can truly help yourself is with KILLER HEADLINES!

I have to admit some people have this gift, and another thing I have to admit is I have my days when I do VERY well and others .... LOL...BOMB! I have to say in the past one of the items I seem to come up with for my clients is a tag line for some of the products they seem to really LIKE! I have to admit at times I do get carried away with the graphics! I did a custom fly swatter once for a real estate agent. I placed their logo, and contact information on there of course! I also added the tag line, "Don't let buying and selling your home BUG you!" and then placed little FLIES (graphics) all over the handle! LOL It was cute, and was very successful for the client! That helps with repeat orders doesn't it?

I guess for me I have to TURN those taglines into HEADLINES! I'm talking the title you use for your blog entries in case your lost here! I don't know about you, but at times some of the those dramatic headlines never got me to their sites! MAKE 10,000 Dollars IN ONE WEEK! LOL Yeah right! You do need to dress it up a bit! It kind of reminds of when you are standing in line at the grocery store, and see those headlines on those gossips rags! I have to be honest I have never bought any of them, but they sure to entertain me when waiting in line! At times I have picked them up and read on - LOL Only to put them back! They are GREAT examples of KILLER headlines, but content?? Sorry but they pretty lost me there! I'm sure they get the buyers JUST from the headlines at time!

I have been doing some reading online, and some things seem to keep popping up with speaking about this. I will reference a very quick read at the end!

1) "How To" insert your goal for the reader! Don't forget to mention a reason as to WHY the reader would wish to "HOW TO" is the catch! Remember 'self interest' here okay! Most people are searching for something to make their lifes more enjoyable! Think about it! Ever see an ad: How to FEEL great while you LOSE weight!" Lose Weight...bleck....icky yucky part but necessary! I can still feel great about that huh? THEY get them, because you see that ad all the time!

2) HOW I ads are good catches also! Think about it - how many times have you see headlines that talk about RAGS to RICHES in one way or another right? "How I made 10,000 in one week!" ...LOL now I wouldn't go to that ad, but you get the point!

3) THE SECRET OF......everyone loves a good secret! Everyone has experienced this at one time or another in their lifes! Little shortcuts if you will to make things go along just a bit smoother than most people! Why wouldn't you want that right?

4) QUICK WAY to do something! Again those shortcuts could be it, or if you have something bigger AWESOME! Your readers will LOVE IT!

5) LIST POSTS are good as well! Every seen those ads about 11 steps you can take towards success? You have seen that or something similiar!

6) FUNNY headlines or sayings that you just heard that may not be so popular all over the world but they SPEAK for themselves! Your article doesn't have to be FUNNY, but your sarcasm or wit could draw them in!

7) Remember your SEO in your headlines! Get our your keyword tool and USE those terms in your headlines! Those search engines will LOVE every minute of it!

8) Remember your font styles! At times when you right your headline with proper sentence structure you may not get the response you are looking for! Remember CAPS at times, Itatics, COLOR...Remember you are looking for STANDING OUT here right?!

9) Make sure the headline RELATES to the article! Nothing is MORE annoying than clicking on that title, and the article has next to NOTHING to offer when it comes to content! I mean we are looking for regular readers here right? OF COURSE! Kind of reminds me of this SERIOUS 'Garage Sale" sign my son BEGGED me to follow today, and we did but the person I guess 'assumed' we knew the neighborhood! It must have been a couple of blocks over from their 'entrance' sign, because we never FOUND IT! Pet peave of mine in both articles AND garage sales! LOL!

Remember the reader is thinking about "What do you have to benefit ME!" For myself, I have to learn to turn those taglines into something GOOD!
